Young man with a disability has artwork exhibited at New York Art Fair

By Jennifer Lumsden, February 21 2019

We are excited that Samraing Chea, had his work exhibited at the New York Outsider Art Fair last month.

The New York Outsider Art Fair began in New York in 1993, and concentrates specifically on self-taught art. Samraing has been a regular studio artist at Arts Project Australia since 2011 and is now supported through the NDIS at Arts Project Australia.

Samraing is a young man with a disability who started attending Marriott Support Services in 2013. He gets his inspiration for his drawings from pop culture, architecture and social environments and brings them to life with wry humour.

He had his first solo exhibition in 2018 at Reading Room, Melbourne and has been included in several group exhibitions at Spring 1883, Sydney; The Establishment, Sydney; Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, Melbourne; and Melbourne Art Fair.
