In Memory of Gabrielle.
Gabrielle joined us at Marriott in 1986. She was one of 12 siblings and was the gossip and glue of an incredible family. Despite facing significant health challenges, Gabrielle stared them down with a cheeky grin and an inspiring joy for life’s simple pleasures –time with people, music, nature, humour and fine food.
Gabrielle was our Community Hub resident fashionista with her own sense of style and this spilled over to one of her great loves, art.
Gabrielle’s art has been exhibited in numerous Marriott exhibitions including the recent Stuck on You exhibition in collaboration with the Glen Eira Artists’ Society. Gabrielle was one of three participants in the Visibility Photo Project. Gabrielle chose to photograph flowers, and loved learning about photography and was delighted with the exhibition at Carnegie Library.
Gabrielle always thought of others, making her own cards for people’s birthdays and always checking with staff to ensure her spelling was correct. She took the time to make others feel extra important on their special day.
Gabrielle passed away this year and her family donated $5,000 to our art program, which Gab dearly loved and gave her much joy.
