Update on Corona Virus (COVID-19) – State Government Stage 1:

As you may be aware the Premier of Victoria has announced Stage 1 shut down of non-essential activity aimed at slowing down the virus to save lives. This includes pubs, clubs, nightclubs, Crown Casino, and licensed venues in hotels and pubs. It also includes gyms, indoor sporting venues, places of worship, cinemas and entertainment venues. Restaurants and cafes will only be allowed to provide home delivery or takeaway services.
Premier Andrews indicated in his media conference this morning that at this stage only the above business activities are closed, and that businesses not on this list can continue to operate provided that they observe social distancing and hygiene measures.

We are experiencing some reduction in client numbers, particularly in the community services through programs provided in the Community Hub at Wheatley Road and Roads to Independence, through some clients being in safety lockdowns in their group homes or with their loved ones. We have adjusted our programs and staffing support in line with this and want to reassure you that we will continue to provide support to our clients and families subject to maintaining sufficient client and staffing levels.

Here at Marriott the health, safety and welfare of everyone are at the centre of what we do. We want to reassure you that we are enforcing social distancing and have been undertaking a high level of disinfectant cleaning several times a day together with increased hygiene and handwashing measures organisational wide as part of minimising the risk to our people in keeping them safe.

As we move forward through this challenging period of time, the government will continue to monitor the ongoing impact and issues around the virus which include reassessing if further closure of more businesses is required.

Here at Marriott, we are continuing to monitor this situation closely with government announcements. If this situation changes either from a government directive or if client numbers fall below an economic viability point in our Community Services, any suspension of contracts in our social enterprises or if we are impacted by a positive COVID 19 outcome, we will quickly inform you on this matter and any changes that may be required. Please stay safe and we appreciate your understanding and support at this time.

Yours sincerely

Ann-Maree Colborne
