How long have you been at Marriott Support Services and what is your role?

I was fortunate enough to commence work with Marriott Support Services in January 2022.

What made you interested in a career in the Disability sector?

I find working in the disability sector personally rewarding knowing I can make a real difference in the lives of people with disability. I am focused on supporting people with disability to achieve their aspirations and to live as independently as possible, and to achieve this I am flexible, adaptable, and positive.

What other experience do you have in the Disability Sector?

Having worked in disability for many years, I am experienced in many different areas of support and have good knowledge of the NDIS. I have managed many Supported Independent Living homes, multiple Day Programs, Respite homes and designed many Person-Centered Programs for participants seeking 1:1 Individual Support services. I have also worked alongside many practitioners who are subject matter experts in Allied Health, such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I sometimes feel like Fred Flintstone, where I kiss my wife and head off to work with my coffee, work as hard as I can for all the participants, staff, and the organisation, then slide off my brontosaurus and head back home to my wife!

What challenges have you faced in your new role or similar positions and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenges are coming up with new and fresh ideas that help improve the lives of all the participants, but I have always found that working as a team overcomes that challenge. I am so fortunate that at Marriott I have the most amazing colleagues that share the same passions for success and realising the goals of all participants.

What is the best part about your role as a Chief Operations Officer?

The people I work with. They’re the best!

What motivates you to get up for work every morning?

Knowing that each day I get to make a difference and have a positive impact on so many people. It’s the main driver behind my actions. Oh, and lots of coffee!

What is a fun fact about you that nobody knows?

I have two very cheeky Beagles that I absolutely adore, and I do everything I can to spoil them rotten!
