Volunteering develops skills: Rosy at St. Peter's Primary School

My name is Rosy Lunam and I have been volunteering at St. Peter's Primary School for the last 3 years. I have been working very closely with a teacher called Ms Noble in Prep Grade. I volunteered every Thursday. My duties included laminating, putting artwork and other projects up on the walls and generally helping in the classroom.

I have enjoyed spending time with the children and helping when needed. During my time at the school I have been accepted by the staff and the school children. Some of the hurdles I have had include reaching up high to put things on the walls and making friendships at recess and lunch time, as I am a little shy.

It is now time for me to spread my wings, and so this year I have decided to try something new. Soon I will be volunteering at a kindergarten near my home. I am looking forward to the new experiences and new people I will meet along the way.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at St. Peter’s for their help and support in making me feel welcome and including me in the group. My time at the school has been an enjoyable experience and I have learnt many things. I would also like to thank the Roads to Independence staff for encouraging me to go further.

Well done Rosy for contributing to the community and moving on to meet your goals. Enjoy the new challenge.
